Granite Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose granite from a small sample?

Samples of granite are not accurate representations of the entire slab due to variations in color. At New York Granite, you pick your own slab from our own granite slab showroom.

Is all the work done on premises?

Yes. We take pride in what we do and therefore we do all the work ourselves – from template, to fabrication, to installation. We do not use subcontractors.

How many different colors do you have in stock?

Our indoor showroom hosts over 100 granite colors in FULL SLABS from all over the world, mainly from India, Brazil, Italy and Spain.

What kind of edges do you offer?

  • Standard Edges: ¼ Round, ¼ Bevel, Eased
  • Premium Edges: Ogee, Cove Ogee, Triple Pencil, Demi Bullnose, Full Bullnose

What is the turnaround time for kitchen countertops?

We typically run between 5-10 business days, but please contact us for our current lead times as it is subject to change.

What does laying out the template entail?

On granite colors that have a lot of motion, we invite you to come in and lay out the wood template on the actual slab. That way you can have certain portions of the slabs in certain areas of the countertops. The process takes between 10 and 20 minutes depending on the size of the kitchen.

How do I clean granite?

The safest way to clean granite is with a damp cloth and soap. You may also use any cleaning products that do NOT contain ammonia.

How often do I have to seal the granite?

The granite comes already sealed. However, you have two options over time:

  • have it sealed with the lifetime warranty sealant
  • seal it yourself every 6 to 12 months
